The cottage has a light and airy open-plan living room, while the well-appointed kitchen area has a fridge-freezer, microwave, gas cooker, dishwasher and all that you need to cook a gourmet meal from local seafood and other fresh produce.

A peaceful night's sleep is guaranteed in the romantic cosy double bedroom. Next to it is a pleasant toilet and shower room.

Bed linen, towels and local hand-made luxury soaps are included in the weekly cost. There is a washing machine, drying facilities and an iron. We also provide a hairdryer and an electric blanket.

The cottage is heated by an environmentally-friendly air source heat pump, backed up by an oil stove. There is no extra charge for heating.

Telly addicts should note that Fossil Cottage is a TV-free zone. We believe that the area offers discerning holidaymakers sufficient entertainment through its abundant wildlife, beautiful walks, outdoor pursuits and local attractions. After you've spent a day out and about, you'll enjoy the serenity of the cottage. The ever-changing view from the window is better than any television! We even provide binoculars.

Relax with a book from our extensive library, listen to the radio or your own music on our CD/MP3 player - or plan your next day's adventures using the maps and extensive local information which we provide. We also provide a chess set and other distractions. Or why not seek out a ceilidh - our traditional music and dance, happening in local venues.

The cottage is also a nicotine-free zone. Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the building or its grounds.

Wireless broadband is available throughout the cottage. Mobile phone reception is variable in this part of the island, but Orange works perfectly.

Fossil Cottage is looked after with great care and attention to detail by its local owners. If you have a problem or need more information during your holiday, we can help. The cottage is situated right by the seashore in the extensive grounds of the owners' house, but enjoys complete seclusion from it and other properties in this crofting township.

As sheep regularly roam along the shore right beside the cottage, we regret we cannot accept dogs.

The neighbouring village of Broadford, two miles away, has a comprehensive range of shops and amenities and there are a number of good restaurants nearby. We encourage guests to shop locally to support local businesses.
